Project description: Construction of a traditional style wallplate dormer dwellinghouse, specifically designed to utilise passive solar gain, orientation and low carbon green technology to achieve a low carbon A-rating and almost passive standard dwellinghouse. This house utilises green technology such as high U-Value construction, structural insulated panels (SIPS), triple glazing, mechanical ventilation with heat recovery, underfloor heating, airtightness tapes, solar panels and air to water heat pumps.

Our involvement in this project included:

  • Architectural Design to energy efficient and passive home requirements.
  • Carrying out of Airtightness testing (Blower door test) and building energy rating.
  • Preparation & submission for planning permission.
  • Surveying of site.
  • Design and scheduling of raft foundations.
  • Land registry mapping and setting out of site.
  • Liaising with clients and contractors.
  • Supervision and certification of construction.

Project description: Construction of a traditional Irish looking wallplate dormer dwellinghouse with American style open plan living. This 4 bedroom timber frame dwellinghouse embraces green technology including high u-value timber frame, mechanical ventilation with heat recovery, underfloor heating, solar panels and geothermal heat pump.

  • Consultation in relation to achieving a low energy, sustainable, cost effective dwellinghouse.

An almost passive home constructed by Scandinavian Homes has highly insulated structure including the foundation, triple glazed windows and a mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery.
