Established in 1971 by Eugene Spellman, this family run consultancy has now passed to his son Cathal who qualified from the University of Edinburgh in 2001. Cathal has practiced in Edinburgh, Boston and London as an engineer before returning to County Galway to run the family business.

Cathal is a member of the Institute of Engineers of Ireland since 2002 and an incorporate member of the chartered institute of building. Cathal is a qualified and practicing SEI building energy assessor since 2007.
